My name is James D. Marks and I’m from Louisville Kentucky. In 1996 at a young age of 20, I was convicted of multiple bank robberies and stacking 924(c), which are multiple guns. I was sentenced to 156 years in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
My projected release data is March 24, 2133. I can say I was very young coming into prison. I’ve made childish decisions in my past. This is my first time incarcerated. Not to make any excuses but no on was injured or harmed. My childish thinking left me to be without my love ones. I regret what I’ve done in the past. Lately I’ve reached out to my judge and apologized to court for my foolish thinking. I’ve asked the judge to look over my case, or consider what judge Gleason has done for Francois Holloway’s case and give me time served due to the unjust sentence as of result of the 924c stacking charges.
I believe if you commit any crime you should be punished accordingly. But my sentence does not fit the crime. I am not a repeat offender, and this was my first offense. I have been sentenced to die in prison. When many murders, terrorists, and repeat criminal come into the system, get let out, just to return. Truly deep down in my heart I know that me and my co defendants were wrong. We did not lay down and take the plea. We didn’t want to work with the Federal government and tell on others. We took the plea at first but then we gave it back.
This is the punishment we received for practicing our rights for a fair trial and not work with the feds. Our time is coming and I know we will see freedom.
May God bless your all
James D. Marks
